If having your own personal beach in the heart of the Caribbean is one of your unrelenting criteria, this might be the place for you.
Quite simply, one of the most exciting available oceanfront properties in the entire world.
Above, this impossibly beautiful and romantic dreamland undulates across a breezy, palm-studded plateau, along with a sea cliff inexplicably dripping with wild red orchids, then down to the polished coral sands below, an exotic boulder-grotto private beach where warm, reef-protected ocean waters lap a secret cove, sweetly swim-able year-round.
This 11-acre property (43,547 square meters) also features a dense forest of royal palms and a magical cañada, a seasonal stream in a tropically vegetated canyon with tiny pools and waterfalls that spill into the sea. The well-drained soil and prevailing sea breezes maintain this unusual site exceptionally comfortable and miraculously mosquito-free.

Remarkably, this once-in-a-lifetime land has its long side along the sea, dominating a half kilometer of wild orchid-draped sea cliff and touching three distinctively different sparkling white sand beaches on the Dominican Republic’s spectacular and ultra-emerging Costa Verde (Non-metric-minded friends: think five football fields of oceanfront).
Although this region of the country, long known for its charming denizens and relaxed way of life, is starting to be discovered. The friendly natives not corrupted by mass-tourism might try to practice their English with you and teach you how to dance merengue and bachata at the slightest provocation. There are two new 6-star boutique hotels within 12 minutes, and even though a championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones is here, ranching and farming and fishing are still the traditional sources of local income. Thus if you enjoy some connection with what is real, authentic and folkloric, and have a taste for the simple things as well as the most elegant ones, you’re in the right place hereabouts.

A kilometer of private road shared with Orchid Bay gives you access to Tercera Luna. Orchid Bay, a gated, private residential community with homes that rival any in the world. Two episodes of the MSNBC TV show “On the Money” feature interviews with adventurous couples who have built their noteworthy, fantasy-inducing homes in this extraordinary community that surrounds Tercera Luna. The largest house in the country is here, 5,500 m2 (59,000 square feet of construction), owned by Canada’s two-time CEO of the year. Moreover, the most beautiful house in the country is also here, a modern Japanese icon designed by a famous architect for one of the Google founders.

Thus this almost-unimaginable Eden lends itself to a variety of upscale uses.

Now, having saved the best for last, the central beach of the three that bless Tercera Luna, contained within the parcel and embraced by two majestic rock peninsulas is also responsible for the name of the property.

The polished golden coral sands don’t stick to your skin – they fall off when you stand up. The outer reef keeps the cove safe for swimming, even in times of big waves, and can be pleasurably snorkeled and scuba-dived when the seas are calm. Moreover, there’s also a surfing break, just for fun.

The views of the beach from multiple building sites are awe-inspiring and may leave you spiritually feeling as much like the guardian of this land as the owner.

What more could we ask from life?

Practical Notes:

Helicopters can land directly on site. There are both excellent telephone and high-speed Internet service from the country’s two largest providers.

The Puerto Plata International Airport (POP), with daily service to the United States, Canada, and a dozen European cities, is a scenic 80-minute drive to the west. Closer, 45 minutes to the east, the newer

Samana El Catey Airport (AZS) has nonstop flights from Paris, Lisbon, Milan, New York, and four cities in Canada, and as the region grows, there will be more. Further, but on a dazzlingly dramatic road, it’s a two-hour drive to the Santo Domingo airport (SDQ) with flights to more destinations. All three of the airports are a quick helicopter ride, and if a helicopter is an option, it would also be advantageous to look at flights into the country’s largest airport, Punta Cana (PUJ).
